Dollywood is posting 1-minute average waits across 35 open rides, while Busch Gardens Tampa sits at 5 minutes, both well below the network average of 10 minutes. For families with flexible schedules this week, either park offers a rare window to hit major attractions without the typical September grind.
What's closed and what to expect
Major maintenance cycles are underway across the network. Hersheypark leads with 72 rides currently down, followed by Cedar Point (69), Six Flags Great Adventure (47), and Knott's Berry Farm (46). Several regional parks, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Cedar Point, Hersheypark, Knott's, and Six Flags Great Adventure, are showing no open rides in our snapshot, suggesting they're either in seasonal closure or off-hours. Check the official park calendar before booking.
At the Disney and Universal flagships, closures are lighter but still notable. Magic Kingdom has four rides down including Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress; Disneyland is running with 10 closed; Islands of Adventure has eight down; and Universal Studios Hollywood is managing 21 closures. None of these significantly impairs the parks' core experience.
Where crowds are running now
Magic Kingdom and Islands of Adventure both sit at 14-minute averages, just above the network norm. Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood run slightly easier at 11 and 13 minutes respectively. All four are posting typical early-fall traffic and respond well to the standard play: arrive at park open, hit headliners in the first 90 minutes, take a midday break.
SeaWorld Orlando is the week's outlier, running at 16-minute waits with Expedition Odyssey Fire & Ice hitting 60 minutes. If you're SeaWorld-bound, shift to a weekday window in late September or mid-January when the crowds thin.
