Six Flags Great Adventure is running at a fraction of normal capacity this week, with an average wait of just 1 minute across 43 open rides. Universal Studios Hollywood has swung the opposite direction, posting a 45-minute average on a single operating attraction. Here's what the network looks like and where families have real options this week.

What's new and worth knowing

D23 brought new Fanniversary Frenzy merchandise collections to Magic Kingdom and Disneyland, and Disney's Animal Kingdom has a new resident: Bakari, a silverback gorilla. Halloween merchandise is also live at both coasts if you're planning early for the fall season. On the event side, Cedar Point is hosting Heroes and Villains Fest, and Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando are running end-of-summer sales through the month.

Ride closures this week

Significant refurbishment work is underway across the network. Magic Kingdom has 5 attractions down, including Haunted Mansion and Carousel of Progress. Disneyland is managing 14 closures, with Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes and the Mark Twain Riverboat among them. Islands of Adventure has the Jurassic Park cluster offline. Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm appear to be in off-season operation. Cedar Point and Busch Gardens Tampa each have roughly 16 rides down. For current status at your destination, check the live closure tracker before you visit.

Where to go this week

Six Flags Great Adventure is the standout play. With an average wait of 1 minute, this is the rare week when a family can walk onto nearly everything. If your schedule is flexible and you're in the Northeast, book now. THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity tops out at 25 minutes, still the longest line in the park.

Magic Kingdom, Islands of Adventure, and Universal Studios Hollywood are all running hot. Magic Kingdom is at 29 minutes average, with Space Mountain hitting 115 minutes. Islands of Adventure sits at 27 minutes, and Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is pinning families at 75 minutes. Universal Studios Hollywood is the most crowded single property on the network at 45 minutes average, though that reflects only Mario Kart operating at the time of this snapshot. All three merit a shift to late September, mid-January, or early May if you have flexibility.

Busch Gardens Tampa is also running light at 5 minutes average, making it another solid option for families in Florida looking to maximize rides with minimal waits. SheiKra peaks at 15 minutes.

Disneyland, Cedar Point, Hersheypark, SeaWorld Orlando, and Dollywood are all at or near network average. Standard strategy applies: arrive at park opening, hit headliner attractions in your first 90 minutes, and take a midday break. Disneyland's Rise of the Resistance is running at 70 minutes; Cedar Point's Valravn at 110; Hersheypark's Candymonium at 90; Dollywood's FireChaser Express at 60.

Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm are closed this week. Check the official seasonal calendar before booking; opening dates can shift.
