Cedar Point and Busch Gardens Tampa both posted wait times that would make any family-trip planner smile this week. But Magic Kingdom is pushing against the current, and Disneyland's near-total closure continues to create an opening for a rare walk-on experience.

What's open and what's down

Disneyland remains in heavy refurbishment mode with 56 attractions closed, leaving exactly one ride operational. Magic Kingdom has nine closures but still fields 35 open attractions, while most other major parks report moderate downtime in the 6-to-72-ride range. The outlier: several parks including Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hersheypark, Knott's Berry Farm, and Dollywood show no live wait data, suggesting they're closed for the season or temporarily shuttered.

Parks with actual short lines right now

Cedar Point is averaging just 2 minutes across 10 open rides this week, with Top Thrill 2 as the longest queue at 25 minutes. Busch Gardens Tampa sits at zero-minute averages on its eight operational attractions, and SeaWorld Orlando is posting 4-minute waits across eight rides. All three represent genuine walk-on opportunities if your family can slip away this week.

Magic Kingdom, by contrast, is running 10-minute averages across 35 open rides, with TRON Lightcycle / Run hitting 40 minutes. That's above the 7-minute network average, so families targeting Disney's flagship park this week should aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday visit in late September or early January instead.

Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure is posting 9-minute waits, right in the normal range. Standard early-arrival tactics apply: hit the gates at opening, knock out headliners in the first 90 minutes, then take your midday break.

Coming attractions

Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm both have new Camp Timber Trail rides launching in 2027. Details are light for now, but both parks have announced the additions as part of next season's lineup.
